10 steps to success

The process – in 10 easy steps

Producing written materials of any description is a collaborative venture, a joint enterprise between YourSuperScribe and you the client. It’s a creative relationship built on honest communication and mutual respect. It can also be a fairly involved – though my job is to make it as easy for you as I can.

(Of course, if you simply require some proofreading or editing, the process will be very different with much fewer layers and a much shorter workflow.)

This is how it works:

1. You email me with a brief rundown of your requirements: what it is (newsletter, report, web article), what you’d like me to do (proofread, write or edit it) and, if you know, its length (number of pages).

2. We talk or meet to exchange background information and materials, and discuss possible deadlines, etc. The better my understanding of what you require, the easier the process will be for both of us.

3. I do a little research and provide you with a summary of our discussions so far, an estimate of costs and payment dates, and a contract for you to sign.

4. You agree to the terms, pay me an initial deposit and then I start work on the first draft.

5. I present this to you, including any notes, on time, for your perusal and feedback.

6. Together, we’ll go through your initial feedback to the first set of revisions by phone, email or in person.

7. I present the second draft to you and await your feedback.

8. I undertake the final revisions and pass them back to you for your final approval.

9. You’re happy and I’m happy, so I send you my final invoice.

10. You pay me within 30 days, spreading much joy and happiness throughout the land!
